COURSES:
We focus on the handgun only, primarily the semi-automatic pistol, but the revolver may be used in any of our courses. Unlike other training institutions that offer levels of instruction (Level I, II, III, beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc.) at Handgun Combatives LLC we emphasize skills sets so the student can select the instruction that best meets their individual need(s).

“Vital, requisite, critical, necessary”
(1 day, 400 rounds)
This course focuses on the skills everyone must master to shoot the handgun well. Others call them “fundamentals” but we understand they are absolutely necessary…ESSENTIAL! Hard emphasis is placed on the proper execution of grip, body position, trigger control, holster skills, reloading, malfunctions…most anything that keeps the gun running! This is where it all starts and you WILL be a better combative shooter when you leave.

“Determined, firm, resolute, confident”
(2 Days, 600 rounds)
The purpose of fighting is to win…to prevail! This course takes the handgun from a sporting, plinking or recreational implement to a tool of combat…to be ready and willing to fight if all else fails. The emphasis of this course is to take the student’s essential skills and put them in the fight. This course reflects much of what is in the best-selling Handgun Combatives …the book Handgun Combatives LLC is built on. Students will be pushed to improve their essential skills under limited time frames…the time honored formula of combined speed and combat level accuracy. To face down a determined attacker, one must be resolute and confident their skills will work! That is what this course is about…these are the skills designed to end the fight!

“Adapt, adjust, react to the situation ”
(2 days, 600 rounds)
The handgun is a reactive/reflexive weapon, one that will need to be adapted to the individual situation one may face. There is no way any instructor can train the student for every situation they may face but being able to adapt quickly to the rapidly unfolding situation is the key to winning in combat. This course is designed to help the student adapt their essential skills to rapidly unfolding situations. Skills such as explosive goal-oriented movement, use of cover, unconventional positions and dynamic manipulation are just some of the topics covered. Adaptation to the rapidly changing environment is the key to victory!

“To interact, engage, overcome”
(2 days, 400 rounds)
Training to prevail with the handgun occurs at three training levels: essentials, combative aspects and interactive aspects. At the interactive level, the skills learned at the first two levels are tested to ensure they work as it is confidence in one’s skill that helps overcome fear in conflict. This course reviews the essential skills on the live fire range and then transitions to man on man interactive training with airsoft guns to prove to the students their skills will indeed work in conflict. This is not a scenarios based course but a man on man conflict program of instruction that will lead to better performance in scenario based training. NOTE: In addition to standard range gear, each student will need an airsoft pistol capable of semi-automatic fire that mimics their carry gun, Green gas/CO2 cartridges and 6mm airsoft pellets.

Reduced Light Pistol:
"Inconsistant illumination, disrupted vision"
(2 days, 600 rounds)
In the law enforcement arena, the vast majority of armed confrontations occur in periods of reduced or inconsistent light. Since armed predators feel more at home plying their trade in environments in which their prey has a hard time seeing, there is no reason to believe it will be any different for the armed citizen. This course is taught in a reduced, inconsistent light environment to help the student prepare for dealing with armed assailants when their vision is inhibited. The course will include how the eyes work in low light, proper reduced light equipment selection, its use and how to use the combative handgun when the environment is less than optimal.

Police Pistol:
"For those who serve"
(2 days 600 rounds)
Law enforcement officers have unique requirements when it comes to the combative pistol…requirements that are not regularly addressed during standard in-service qualification. The 21st Century street cop needs to be proficient with his duty sidearm anywhere from contact distance (arrest situations) to 25 plus yards (active killer/shooter situations). This course is for law enforcement/ private security and military personnel only! The course is for those who do not just shoot in self-defense, but seek out law breakers and place themselves between the citizens they are sworn to protect and the felons who would prey upon them. This is a course for hunters…not just defense shooters. Subjects to be covered:
- Essential combative pistol skills
- Surgical speed shooting and manipulation
- One hand shooting and manipulation
- Critical Space combative pistol skills (“bad breath” distances)
- Reduced light applications (is facility permits)
- Point shooting and sighted fire and how they complement one another
- Dynamic movement
- Grounded shooting
- Rapid position change
- Use of back up guns (if used)
- Developing the Combative Mind
The use of body armor and full duty rig/carry gear is greatly encouraged!

“Crisis, crucial, dire, close proximity”
(2 days 600 rounds)
The majority of armed confrontations involving law enforcement officers occur at double arms- length also known as “the hole”. Due to the close proximity of other humans, there is no reason to believe there is a difference for armed citizens. Emphasis will be placed on the draw and shooting from positions that are anything but traditional including the contact shot. Strike zones and how to strike will also be addressed. This is the class that bridges the gap between open hands and handguns. THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER COURSE and much of the training will occur at contact distance. Students will be asked to shoot a set of standards prior to training to ensure suitability. These standards are NOT pass-fail, merely an evaluation of skill.
One shot from ready- 1 second
One shot from the holster- 2 seconds
One shot from ready, in battery reload, one shot- 4 seconds
Six shots from ready- 3 seconds
From ready, two shots on one target, in battery reload, two shots on a second target- 5 seconds. Targets are 4 feet apart.
All standards are shot at 20 feet on an 8 inch square. .

"Confined space conflict, trapped fighting"
(2 days, 500 rounds)
Americans love their motor vehicles and we spend more time in them than any other location outside work and home. This course addresses not only having one’s vehicle attacked (car-jacking, motorcade etc.) but also being attacked in the car (narcotics enforcement or attacked by a known person in the vehicle). Taught in and around real motor vehicles, this course includes shooting through body sheet metal and windows. Students will also shoot through seats and other interior obstructions. Students will also be given the opportunity to test their carry ammo against common vehicle construction. Square range training from standing, kneeling and seated positions will move to real vehicles to apply lessons on how to fight both in, around and under. To host this course, the range MUST be capable of containing multi-directional fire and several junk vehicles with glass, doors, seats and seat belts must be made available for shooting. NOTE: The tuition of the course might change from location to location depending on the cost to secure needed vehicles and related range equipment. Check with course POC for additional information.

"The most essential of essentials"
(4 hours, lecture format). This course is designed to introduce the student to the most important aspect of conflict preparation. Without the will the skill to fight is worthless. While no course can implant awareness and willingness in any individual, the class will help the student prepare their brain to fight instead of freeze.
Lectures:
We are available to lecture on a wide variety of subjects to include firearms, personal security, preparation, mindset or any number of related topics. Contact us and we will try to accommodate the need(s) or your group or agency. Pricing will be based on the number of people to attend and travel expenses.
Gear Needed For All Live Fire Courses:
